Q+A with arc one officer, robert neal

Meet An Arc One Protective Services Guardian of Schools

At Arc One Protective Services, we take pride in not being like other security companies. One of the things that sets us apart is our low staff turnover, which is a result of our commitment to investing in our people. We prioritize employing individuals with extensive experience in the security industry, veterans, and former law enforcement officers. However, what truly sets our team apart is their genuine passion for ensuring the safety of civilians, including children at school. Our dedicated officers not only excel in their roles but also genuinely care about the well-being of others. They love what they do, and it shows in their unwavering commitment to our mission. We want to showcase what it’s like working at Arc One and believe it is important to highlight the remarkable stories and exceptional service of our officers.

So, let’s begin with Robert Neal. He’s been working with Arc One for 7 months, so we thought we’d ask a new team member what he thinks about Arc One.

Robert heard about Arc One from a friend who is also an Arc One employee. His friend said he really enjoyed working here and encouraged Robert to apply. After the initial interview process, Robert was hired and began working as a Guardian for a school in Texas.

Robert emphasized that shortly after being hired, he noticed a stark contrast in management style between Arc One and the other security companies he has worked for throughout his career. Unlike other companies, Arc One's management invests time and effort into their team members. Their main goal is to cultivate successful and motivated individuals who consistently go above and beyond, always giving their utmost and carrying out their work with unwavering passion. This commitment to the growth and development of its employees sets Arc One apart from its competitors and contributes to the exceptional standard of service Arc One provides to its clients.

Robert was hired specifically as an Arc One Guardian. All Arc One Protective Services Guardians are highly trained personnel who are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of students and faculty members. Equipped with extensive knowledge and expertise, our Guardians are prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in the event of an active shooter situation. Their commitment to the community goes beyond their training, as they possess a genuine desire to protect and safeguard the student and faculty populations from violent threats.

In Robert’s own words, “I want to help keep children safe.” And when asked what his favorite part of working in the security industry is? It was a simple answer: “My favorite thing about this job is protecting people.”

As a Guardian, Robert conducts campus-wide patrols, checks on students, performs threat assessments, and prohibits unauthorized entry into school property. He diligently monitors the grounds, ensuring the safety of all attending children and faculty. Robert's dedication to protecting people is evident in his work, and this dedication is fueled by his passion for protecting kids while they learn.

But, it’s not only protecting children that has had an impact on Robert’s time at Arc One. He also mentioned a time this past summer when he was on duty at a school. He witnessed a woman walking by, who passed out from exhaustion. He went over to her, helped get her up, and gave her water. He sat with her long enough to make sure she was rehydrated and able to seek medical attention. She was extremely grateful for his quick action and response.

Security officers are public servants, seen as trusted figures in the community. Little experiences like this one, where an officer is able to aid a civilian in a kind and thoughtful way, backed with training in both emergency situations and first aid, help people trust those in a private security position. And, the gratitude people have for a security officer after an incident like this one, inspires our officers to continue their important work.

I found it interesting that Robert also said one thing he learned about this industry, is that people really don’t appreciate security officers until they are needed. Sometimes, people don’t respect something until they have a use for it. This was Robert’s lesson after 7 months on the job, but I think it can be a lesson for all of us.
