The Power of Your Vote: Enhancing Security in Schools
Election Day is next week! On November 7th, 2023, it is crucial for every citizen to recognize the importance of their vote. We find ourselves in a weird time, where security within our educational institutions has become a serious concern, demanding our immediate attention. In light of recent events, especially those surrounding attacks and violence on school campuses, it is essential for each individual to undertake thorough research on the candidates and bills that advocate for enhanced security in our schools.
Arc One services Florida and Texas (and will soon be expanding to other states), but we have viewers and followers in all US states. We encourage you to research what candidates are making an effort to protect children, and what legislation is on the ballot that could help add security for our students.
Arc One does not endorse any political candidate or party but encourages you to take the steps necessary to research the candidates in your district and vote for safer schools. We firmly believe that every citizen has the power to make a difference in securing safer schools. This research and dedication to safer schools is a responsibility that is up to you, the parent, the citizen, the voter.
Your voice matters, and exercising your right to vote enables you to advocate for the future of education. By actively participating in the democratic process, you have the opportunity to elect leaders who prioritize the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and staff.
When you cast your vote, we hope that you, the voter, carefully consider candidates who are dedicated and committed to implementing comprehensive safety measures within our schools. This includes the implementation of robust security systems, the establishment of effective emergency response protocols, and the provision of adequate mental health support services.
It is important to support those who prioritize funding for training programs, empowering educators with the necessary tools and knowledge to recognize and address potential threats promptly. Additionally, it is worth investigating whether any candidate supports bills that would allocate funding toward the presence of trained armed security officers on school campuses like we saw in Texas with House Bill 3. Lastly, it is important to assess the consistency of a candidate's stance on safe schools, as we want to make sure that their current positions continue to prioritize the well-being and security of our educational institutions.
Remember, safer schools are not just about physical security. Elected officials should also prioritize initiatives that build inclusive and supportive communities, promoting empathy and respect among students to prevent bullying and violence.
Making our kids’ schools safer goes beyond the power of voting alone. One of the most effective ways to rally for change is by actively engaging with your state senators and governor. Additionally, participating in school meetings and town halls provides a platform to voice your opinions and demand that adequate funding be put towards enhancing security measures in educational institutions. By taking these proactive steps, we can create a safer environment for both students and staff.
If you live in Florida or Texas, check out the Arc One Protective Services Guardian Program. Our in-school program provides trained security guards inside and outside your child's school to keep it safe and protect the students.
Don’t forget to vote this Tuesday, November 7th!
